Thomas and Alison travelled over from London to Ireland to celebrate their wedding with their Irish family and friends — and what a celebration it was! 🇮🇪❤️
Their wedding at The Village Barn in Co. Westmeath was exactly the kind of day I love photographing: relaxed, full of personality, completely unpretentious and, quite frankly, a proper hooley!
They chose The Village Barn because it has such a wonderfully laid-back feel. Their humanist ceremony took place in the pretty little chapel before everyone spilled out into the beautiful gardens to enjoy the last of the summer sunshine. There was plenty of chatting, laughing and, naturally, a fair bit of Guinness involved. 🍻
And then there was the handbag. Alison arrived with a handbag shaped like an actual block of Kerrygold butter, designed by artist Maya Grisham. Honestly, you couldn't make it up — and I absolutely loved it! 🧈😂
As the evening got going, Willie's Barn was buzzing. The character and authenticity of the bar made it the perfect spot for everyone to gather, and the atmosphere just kept building. Then The Favours hit the dance floor and things really kicked off.
By the time I headed home, the dance floor was absolutely hopping, with everyone giving it socks. I'm pretty sure that party continued well into the small hours!
It was one of those weddings where you could feel how much everyone genuinely wanted to be there. Great people, great craic, plenty of Guinness, brilliant music and loads of personality — basically everything a relaxed Irish wedding should be.
As a Westmeath wedding photographer, I couldn't have asked for a better day to photograph. Thomas and Alison, thanks for bringing me along for the ride. What a day! ❤️
